Gellifique Gel Colour

Hey Guys!

So, I was lucky enough to be sent a sample of the new One Step Gel Polish by GellifiQue®

Website Excerpt

GellifiQue® gel nail polish is patented and registered in the UK. It has over 650 colours in palette and more are added quarterly. This vast colour range allows the customer to select the shades most appropriate for their business whether it is a salon or a mobile nail service.  The designed colours are high tech and their easy removal technology is to match that of those brands that are already present in the market.

I was able to choose a colour, so went for #6033 Tropicana! It’s a creme formulation and is a gorgeous coral shade. Perfect for summer!

The bottles are a good size (12ml) and you can see the actual colour through the window at the front of the bottle. The directions, I was sent, state that the bottle contents must be mixed/shaken before use. The consistency is extremely creamy and highly pigmented.

Creamy Consistency

So, I did my normal prep work and, of course, there is no base coat step. I applied a thin layer – the application was super creamy and didn’t run or shrink. Directions stated the first thin layer should be cured for 2 minutes in a UV lamp, or 1 minute in an LED. I was using my CND LED lamp.

Second coat was applied in exactly the same manner, and this gave me full coverage. Curing times for the second layer states 3-4 minutes in a UV and 2 minutes in an LED.

After I’d cured the second colour coat in my LED, the results were a cured set of nails with no dispersion layer – and also no top coat!

The finish was extremely glossy & shiny, and the whole process was super fast and fuss free! The colour is absolutely gorgeous! I looked at the website and the prices are fantastic too!

Finished Result

This One Step Gel polish is designed for lasting 5-10 days, depending on your daily lifestyle. This type of system is perfect for toes as I can see it lasting a lot longer!

*Press Sample

Hey Guys!

Today I got a chance to try out and play with a pack of goodies kindly sent to me from Scatter Crystals – they are an authorised UK distributor of Swarovski Crystal. Countless nail technicians use their non-hotfix flatback Swarovski crystals specifically for nail art, and the results are striking! 💎

I was sent a mixed pack of 254 Crystal AB (Aurora Boreale) Flat Back Shapes. The AB crystals produce the most amazing rainbow effect in the light that shimmers tones of pink, blue & yellow. To buy the set, please click here.

The pack costs £24.99 and here’s a detailed breakdown:

  • Round SS5 x 50
  • Round SS7 x 50
  • Round SS9 x 50
  • Round SS12 x 50
  • Round SS20 x 25
  • Round SS30 x 10
  • Raindrop (10 x 2.8mm) x 5
  • Fan (6mm) x 5
  • Rhombus (10 x 6mm) x 5
  • Moon (8 x 5.5mm) x 2
  • Star (5mm) x 2

I couldn’t wait to use them, so decided to demo a #blingky (blinged up pinky) inspired by @notorious_nails_ on Instagram (go check her out!)

Here’s my YouTube video Swarovski application tutorial:

Otherwise, carry on reading below….

After cleansing my pinky nail, and adding a gel primer, I decided to use Light Elegance Cool hard gel. I wanted a clear base and something that was going to hold for at least a couple of weeks!

I applied a layer with a gel brush and my base for stones was ready…

I then decided I wanted to use an array of the stones, so chose a raindrop as my central stone, then a mixture of SS5, SS7 and SS9 around it. The closer I got to the tip of my nail, the smaller of stone I used.

I used a dotting tool with a small amount of nail foil adhesive swiped over the tip. Once it dried clear, it was super sticky!! This means the stones stay nice and shiny when picking them up and transferring to the nail.

So, once all your stones are in place you can cure your hard gel.

I then went in with a No Wipe Top Gel sealer and went in and around the stones with a super tiny detail brush.

Then cure your top gel, and that’s it! Because the top gel has no tacky layer, there’s no need to wipe any residue from the nail!

Here’s the final result! (Pic taken on same day, but after a quick design change!)

To summarise, this pack is absolutely brilliant value for money – for those who are nail techs, the stones work at under 10p each! There’s a fantastic variety and shapes to suit all.

Thanks again to Scatter Crystals for sending me these!

See you soon!

Kaz Creations Nail Decal Review!

*Press Sample

Hey Guys!

Kaz Creations, a nail decal & temporary tattoo website, contacted me recently and asked if I’d like to try out their nail water decals.

I was allowed to pick which design I wanted, and went for something I wouldn’t normally…My Little Pony! I received 2 packs of decals…this is how they arrive.

The decals arrived super quick and well packaged.

On the back is a list of instructions, so if you’re new to water decals this is super helpful. The instructions specify these are best put over a clear or light coloured nail polish base.

So I decided to paint my nails white so the decal colours would pop. So as per the instructions, I cut out the decals I wanted to use and trimmed as close to the image as I possible could (not shown).

You’re then going to need a container of warm water. I used my tweezers to hold the decal, and held in the water for around 10-20 seconds.

Once you pull the decal out of the water, lightly dab of kitchen paper to absorb the excess water. The decal will then easily slide of the backing paper and you can apply to your nails!

Top Coat, and voila!

I found the decals super easy to use, as per the instructions. However, I did notice the clear backing it was on was not as flexible as I would’ve liked it to be. This is purely because I have high C-Curve nails, and a couple of them did not sit as flat as I’d have liked. If you have flatter nails, then it’s more than likely you wouldn’t have this problem 😃

I hope you found this blog post useful, and go and check out Kaz Creations – they have a huge range of nail decals, stencils and temporary tattoos on the website.

See you soon!

Light Elegance Spring 2016 Glitter Collection!

*Press Sample

Hey Guys!

I have here the gorgeous Spring 2016 Glitter Collection of soak off gel polishes from Light Elegance! These are the P+ Soak Off polishes and are great on their own or for fading and layering.

Let’s get straight onto the swatches!

Left – Top to Bottom: Wild Watermelon, Gummy Green, Jawbreaker

Right – Top to Bottom: Zinger, Sour Grapes, Squeeze Me

Here they are in the bottles, and I’ve taken the pictures slightly out of focus so you can appreciate the sparkle! ✨

Wild Watermelon

Wild Watermelon is a beautiful pink iridescent glitter.

Gummy Green

Gummy Green is a mouth watering lime glitter.

Jawbreaker is so unusual. It’s a turquoise / tiffany blue matte glitter.

Zinger is a fruity bright lemon glitter.

Sour Grapes

Sour Grapes has to be my favourite! It’s a purple based glitter with small, holographic hex glitters!

Squeeze Me

Squeeze Me is a tangerine iridescent glitter.

These all applied beautifully in 2 coats, and I cured for 60 seconds in my CND LED Lamp. Remember, glitter gels are slightly more difficult to work with, but the beauty of a gel polish is that you can move the glitter around to get your desired placement before curing.

I had to put one of these on my nails, and as I said Sour Grapes is my favourite! I applied as a glitter fade over a lilac gel polish and I was really pleased how they turned out! 💜

Light Elegance Products are available in the UK  here and you must be a professional in order to purchase.

Heroes & Villains Collaboration with @NonaPhilippa

Hey guys!

Welcome to my very first Blog post!

NonaPhilippa and I have started our 2016 quarterly collaborations again on our YouTube Channels!

Our theme this quarter is Heroes & Villains. We chose Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and the classic tale of Good vs Evil!

We decided I would depict Aurora ~ Sleeping Beauty herself! Here’s what I came up with!

I really wanted to incorporate the rose thorn bush, as her name was Briar Rose when she was living in the cottage with the good fairies. I also wanted to attempt a decal with the Prince (which turned out better than I thought!) I also incorporated the ‘Once upon a Dream’ phrase and a silhouette of the castle.

I used a gorgeous base of Madam Glam Bubble Gum and Magpie Beauty Two Faced Dust in ‘Iris’ to create  a gorgeous magical sparkly hue. Luckily, I also had the help of the BBF Plate 40 ~ perfect for Sleeping Beauty!

All the items and details of stamping polishes & stampers are listed in the description box of my YouTube tutorial here.

NonaPhilipppa has depicted Maleficent brilliantly with her sparkly mani!

Check out Nona’s YouTube tutorial here to see how she achieved this fabulous mani!

I hope you enjoyed our collaboration and my first ever blog post!

See you in the next one!
